This Cookie Policy explains how FineInk ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our services.
We use cookies to keep FineInk secure, remember your preferences, understand how our services are used, and improve your experience.
We aim to use only the cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to operate, secure, and improve FineInk.
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website.
They help websites recognise your device, keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and provide certain features.
We may also use similar technologies, including local storage, session storage, pixels, software development kits (SDKs), and other browser technologies that perform similar functions. Throughout this Cookie Policy, we refer to these collectively as "cookies."
How we use cookies
We use cookies for a limited number of purposes.
Essential cookies
These cookies are necessary for FineInk to function.
They help us:
- keep you securely signed in
- maintain your session while using the service
- protect accounts against fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
- remember security settings
- support reliable operation of our infrastructure
Without these cookies, FineInk cannot function properly.
Functional cookies
These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience.
For example, they may remember:
- language preferences
- interface settings
- theme preferences
- whether you have dismissed certain notices
Disabling these cookies may reduce the convenience of certain features but will not usually prevent you from using the service.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how FineInk is used and how it performs.
For example, they help us understand:
- which pages and features are used
- how users navigate the service
- where technical problems occur
- how the performance and reliability of the platform can be improved
Where practical, we prefer aggregated or pseudonymized information over collecting unnecessary personal information.
On our public website pages, including the home page, blog, and Atlas, analytics is off until you choose Allow analytics. Until you choose, and if you choose Reject analytics, we do not load our analytics provider, PostHog, and no analytics identifier is stored. We remember your choice in a first-party cookie named fineink_analytics_consent for up to 12 months, so we do not ask again on every page.
If you allow analytics, PostHog stores a pseudonymous identifier for your browser in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage. We use it to count visits to those pages and to see which sites and campaigns bring people to FineInk. We do not send page query strings, search terms, advertising click identifiers, or anything you type into forms to PostHog.
You can change your choice at any time with Analytics preferences at the bottom of those pages. Choosing Reject analytics stops further analytics and removes the PostHog identifier from your browser's cookies and local storage. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal.
Performance and reliability cookies
These cookies help us maintain and improve the stability of FineInk.
For example, they may be used to:
- diagnose errors
- monitor application performance
- investigate outages
- identify reliability issues
- improve the overall user experience
We do not use cookies for advertising
FineInk is not an advertising platform.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or deliver targeted advertising based on your browsing activity.
If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and, where required by applicable law, request any necessary consent.
First-party and third-party cookies
Some cookies are placed directly by FineInk.
Others are placed by carefully selected third-party service providers that help us operate our services.
These providers may support areas such as:
- authentication
- payments
- hosting and infrastructure
- analytics
- application monitoring
- AI services
A current list of our third-party service providers is available on our Subprocessors page.
These providers may use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy notices and applicable agreements.
How long cookies last
Cookies may remain on your device for different lengths of time depending on their purpose.
Session cookies are temporary and are automatically removed when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or are deleted. They help remember your preferences and improve your experience across visits.
Managing cookies
Most web browsers allow you to:
- view stored cookies
- delete cookies
- block cookies
- choose how cookies are handled
You may also be able to use browser extensions or privacy tools to control certain forms of tracking.
Please note that disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of FineInk from working correctly, including signing in, accessing your account, or using core features of the service.
Cookie consent
Where required by applicable law, we will ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies on your device.
Essential cookies do not require consent because they are necessary to provide the service you request.
Where a cookie preference tool is available, you can update your preferences at any time.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our services, technology, or legal obligations evolve.
If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
